The short version
- Plasma is blood with clotting factors kept; serum is what remains after clotting.
- Study protocols name which tube they need for a reason.
- This page never interprets personal results.
Why the distinction exists
Whole blood is spun and handled differently depending on what the assay needs. Plasma is collected with an anticoagulant so clotting factors stay in solution. Serum is collected so the blood can clot, then the liquid portion is taken.
What readers usually see
A protocol or visit schedule may say “plasma PK” or “serum chemistry.” Those labels point to different processing steps, not a judgment about your health.
What this site will not do
Plasmiro does not read personal lab reports, recommend tests, or recruit for studies. Ask the study team which tubes they need and why.
Plasmiro is an information website, not a medical provider, research sponsor, study site, or recruiter. Nothing on this site is a referral to a study, a medical opinion, or an invitation to join research, and your details are never handed to sponsors, research sites, or lead buyers. The content is general information only.
